Thescores are in for Texas Panhandle school districts, under the state’s controversial new A-F grading system.
As MyHighPlains.com reports, every school in Amarillo and Canyon met state standards.
For Potter County, Amarillo’s school district and Highland Park ISD both received a “B” rating, as did Borger and Sanford-Fritch ISDs. Perryton ISD, in the far northern Panhandle, received a C” grade.
Canyon ISD also rated a “B,” but with a score of 89, Canyon just missed scoring an “A.”. Bushland and Canadian’s school districts received two of the highest ratings in the region, both garnering grades of “A.” Meanwhile, River Road ISD and Pampa ISDs both received “C” ratings from the TEA.
The new rating system has drawn widespread criticism from school districts across Texas, for reducing complex issues to a single letter grade.
