Growing on the High Plains: Seasons of Giving

The holidays always take me back to a time with family, so today we'll wander back to the memories I have of visits with my dad, planting and growing in our very own garden.

Today on Growing on the High Plains, join me as I take a walk back down Memory Lane as I recollect my cherished visits with my dad after his move into a nursing facility. Engaging him with activities made our time together go smoothly, so we quickly planned on a cheerful garden. Making a space for beauty to grow is always a perennial gift.

Years ago Skip Mancini left the rocky coast of Northern California to return to her roots in the heartland. Her San Francisco friends, concerned over her decision to live in a desolate flatland best known for a Hollywood tornado, were afraid she would wither and die on the vine. With pioneer spirit, Skip planted a garden. She began to learn about growing not only flowers and vegetables, but hearts and minds. If you agree that the prairie is a special place, we think you'll enjoy her weekly sojourns into Growing on the High Plains.
