Don't miss our LIVE interview with featured performers Michael Palmer (Conductor) & Pepe Romero (Guitar). They take the stage this Saturday night in Amarillo at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts as part of Chamber Music Amarillo's annual Concerto Extraordinaire.

Today on High Plains Morning, I had the honor of interviewing two close friends who can trace their friendship back to 1969. And even better: they both happen to be legendary classical musicians!

Thanks so much to Chamber Music Amarillo for setting up a chat with Maestro Michael Palmer (Conductor) and Maestro Pepe Romero (Guitar) on our show today. They will grace the stage this Saturday night, January 8th, for the CMA's annual Concerto Extraordinaire at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts (500 S. Buchanan, Amarillo). The show title says it all: Pepe Romero & Beethoven 7.” It will feature Chamber Music Amarillo’s chamber orchestra, The Amarillo Virtuosi, as well. The program includes: Mozart, Overture to his Opera Titus; Rodrigo, Concierto Aranjuez; & Beethoven, 7th Symphony.

The music starts at 7:30p CT, but there will be a pre-concert lecture at 6:45p CT hosted by High Plains Public Radio and WTAMU. Tickets and information can be found here. You can also call the box office at 806-376-8782.

ONE MORE THING! Chamber Music Amarillo will also present a short, free Family Performance at 2pm on Saturday afternoon, also at the Globe News Center, that will last about 45 minutes. It's free & open to the public, including families with young children. The event will feature members of the Romero Guitar Institute and will also include discussion with the musicians about the composers, the music, their instruments and what it is like to play music on the guitar. Those who attend will have an opportunity to ask questions and visit one on one with these musicians. The event will conclude with cookies and punch.
