Monsanto has said that it aims to find new ways to combine chemicals and biotech crops. In an effort to expand, the company has been recently been buying up a lot of tech companies.
Watchdog groups are asking the government’s anti-trust wing to crack down on the deal, as it would give too much power to a single company. Monsanto, however, argues the deal would not trigger antitrust laws. The company claims it’s just trying to improve service to farms.
The agricultural giant has also been looking at how drones might be employed on farms.
