A Brave New World for Marijuana

David McNew

Of regional interest, in a world where marijuana is legal in many places, the way the drug is viewed by the public is changing. And along with these perceptions, the ways in which marijuana is sold, delivered and consumed are also changing. It can now be ordered via apps, infused in wine, and sprinkled on dog food, reports The Guardian.

Pot is America’s fastest growing industry. The marijuana trade is expected to be worth $2.7 billion in 2016. That’s up 74% from last year. And Colorado is ground zero for shifting attitudes on pot.

Some celebrities have made news for marketing their own brands of pot, including Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg and the Marley family. There’s also a new subscription delivery service, known as Potbox. And Colorado-based Dixie Brands, one of the largest marijuana retail companies, has ambitions to not only be the first national cannabis brand, but a global one.
