Cybersecurity Tips for Your Small Business

In today’s advanced world it’s important to ensure your business’s records and information are adequately secure. To that end, the Center for Rural Affairs has published a list of Cybersecurity Tips from the Small Business Administration.

First, and most obvious, make sure each of your business’s computers are equipped with antivirus software and update it regularly. Next, safeguard your Internet connection by using a firewall and encrypting information. Third, make sure employees know how to protect personal information and sensitive data. Fourth, ensure that your employees know how to create strong passwords. Fifth, ask your bank to provide the most trusted anti-fraud services available, so credit card information doesn’t leak. Sixth, back up the data on your computers on a regular basis. And lastly, make sure employees are protecting their cell phones, and lock up desktops and laptops, when unattended.
