Last year, President Obama chose the Choctaw Nation as one of his “Promise Zones.” These are areas of the country where communities are expected to partner with local businesses to increase opportunity. Since being named a Promise Zone, the Choctaw Nation has received more than $50 million in federal assistance. /The grants have already been used to great success. The president also plans to expand broadband access in these areas, allowing the internet to reach 275,000 new low-income households.
