Does Trump's Lone Star Visit Mean Texas Is in Play?

James Gregg

Donald Trump paid a visit to Texas this week, causing some to wonder if the GOP might consider the state more in play than previously believed.

As The Austin American-Statesman reports, a recent poll showed Trump with only a 6-point lead over Hillary Clinton. Former Land Commissioner Garry Mauro said of the billionaire’s visit to the Lone Star State, “He saw the same poll I did.”

While in Austin,Trump recorded a special to air over two nights on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show. During the interview, Trump attempted to stave off recent reports that he was wavering on his commitment to stopping illegal immigration. “We’re going to build a wall. It’s 100 percent,” he said.

Former Gov. Rick Perry and former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani joined Trump’s efforts to drum up support in Texas. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller was also spotted on stage.
