Who's Running the Trump Campaign in This Colorado County? A 12-Year-Old Boy

In one influential county in Colorado, Donald Trump’s campaign is being run by a 12-year-old, CNN reports.

Weston Imer is coordinating volunteers and organizing the get-out-the-vote operation in Jefferson County. Imer says he hopes his experience would lead other young people to become engaged politically.

The operation's field coordinator for the county is listed as Weston's mother, Laurel Imer. She believes the campaign is a good opportunity for Weston to learn more about the political process before he returns to his studies this fall. Weston says he supports Trump because he wanted to feel more safe at school. A recent poll found Trump trailing Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by 10 points in a head-to-head matchup in Colorado.

Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks did not respond to CNN's request for comment about Trump’s young surrogate.
