Tuesday night’s elections went largely as expected in the traditional Republican bastion that is Oklahoma.
As CNN reported, Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Kevin Stitt handily defeated his Democratic rival, Drew Edmondson. Observers had been watching the race closely, as the Sooner State’s previous governor Mary Fallin had become one of the least popular executives in the country, in the wake of Oklahoma’s statewide teacher walkout. Meanwhile, in Oklahoma’s House District 03, Republican Frank Lucas easily bested Democratic contender Frankie Robbins.
There was, however, one stunning upset in Oklahoma. Democrat Kendra Horn defeated GOP Representative Steve Russell to turn one of Oklahoma’s five House seats blue. Two years agp, Russell had won that same District 05 seat by 20 points.
