When it comes to women’s equality, High Plains states don’t fare as well as many other states across the country, according to new a new study by the personal finance website Wallethub.
The website compared all 50 states across 16 key indicators of gender equality, looking at everything from the gap between female and male executives to the disparity in unemployment rates for women and men.
Colorado was the only High Plains state to crack the top half of the list, landing at number 23. Nebraska was close behind, at number 27. At number 39, Kansas just missed landing in the bottom ten, while Oklahoma ranked at number 41.
But it was Texas that turned in the most woeful performance among High Plains states when it comes to treating women fairly, landing near the very bottom at number 48.
New York was found to be the most equitable state, while Utah performed the worst of all.
