During a three-day operation performed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, 75 foreign nationals were arrested in north Texas and Oklahoma last week on fugitive charges.
Fifty-two of the 75 arrested had criminal histories, according to MyHighPlains.com, with almost half of those charges consisting of DUI convictions.
Twenty-three of the arrested individuals had no prior criminal records, yet were still picked up during the operation and are expected to be deported.
Five of the arrests occurred in the Texas Panhandle, including one in Amarillo, one in Canadian, one in Muleshoe, and two in Plainview. Of those arrested, 73 were men and two were women. The suspects’ ages ranged from 18 to 61 years old.
The arrests were part of an ongoing effort on the part of ICE agents to carry out “targeted enforcement operations” nationwide. Last year, ICE picked up almost a quarter-million unauthorized people in the country.
