Suspect Arrested In Shooting Death Of Garden City Restaurant Owner

An arrest has been made in last week’s shooting death of a Garden City restaurant owner.

According to a press release from Garden City police, Marcus William Roady, 31, transient, was arrested in the 300 block of Hillside Avenue at 4:30 a.m. Monday on an allegation of first degree murder.

At approximately 10:44 p.m. Thursday, police officers found Ernest Ortiz, 69, of Garden City, in the parking lot of the business, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to St. Catherine Hospital, where he later died.

Police are investigating the shooting death as a potential robbery.

No other information is being provided at this time.
