At Horse Thief Reservoir, the "Glampers" Have Arrived

Spring rains have been a boon to campers at Horse Thief Reservoir in southwest Kansas. The lake level is the highest it’s ever been. And now the water is bringing a new kind of camper to the site. The Hutchinson News reports that the lake is seeing more and more “glamour campers,” or “glampers.” Glampers are visitors who travel in small, neatly appointed vintage campers. Glamping provides all of the fun of camping without the heat, bugs, and hard ground. Horse Thief Reservoir will host its first ever glamping event on September 25-26.

The reservoir also has a “glamour yurt” available for rent. The yurt features a big bed and air conditioning for hot nights. A spokeswoman for the camp said, “Glamour camping is not roughing it. It’s fun, fur and signature cocktails.”
