Ten Wonderful Places to Visit in Kansas During Fall

Jason Probst

The first day of fall has arrived, and The Hutchinson News has publisheda list of ten great places to visit in Kansas during autumn. If it ever starts to feel like fall, that is.

Among the list’s highlights are Fall River State Park, which makes a great place to go canoeing. Scott Lake State Park, located 11 miles north of Scott City, has been listed by National Geographic as one of the country’s 50 must-see state parks. It’s hidden in a canyon in the western Kansas prairie. The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve has more than 40 miles of hiking and nature trails.  The Cain City Orchard at Bushton is great for picking apples. And The Maple Leaf Festival, in October in Baldwin City, is a fantastic chance to enjoy fall foliage.

The list was compiled with the help of Marci Penner, creator of the Kansas Explorers Club.
