How Many Texans Resemble You?

The Texas Tribune posted a unique interactive element on their site this week that allows readers to investigate how many other Texans resemble them. Users can fill in blanks for sex, age and race and see what the rest of the Texan population looks like compared with their own metrics.

Here are some facts HPPR discovered: Exactly half of the Texas population is male, and half is female. Non-Hispanic whites make up 46% of the population, while Hispanics make up 29%. 12% of the state’s people are black, 4% are Asian, and 2% are of mixed ethnicities.

10% of Texans fall between the ages of 18 and 24, and 4% are over the age of 75. 27% of Texans are between 35 and 54. And another 27% are children under the age of 18.
