The Pew Research Center has published a new surveythat reveals changing about American attitudes toward Christmas.
While nine-in-ten Americans say they celebrate Christmas, only half see it as mostly a religious holiday. One-third view it as more of a cultural holiday. 96% of Christians celebrate Christmas, but a third of those do not see it as a religious holiday. Eight-in-ten non-Christians in America also celebrate Christmas, but most view it as a cultural holiday rather than a religious occasion.
86% of U.S. adults say they intend to gather with family and friends on Christmas this year, and that same percentage say they plan to buy gifts for friends and family. Nine-in-ten adults say these same activities were part of their own holiday celebrations when they were growing up.
