Texas Panhandle War Museum and Education Center gets commissioners' blessing

Veterans in the Texas Panhandle got the OK to build a state-of-the-art museum and education center.  Randall County commissioners voted to allow construction of the Texas Panhandle War Museum and Education Center according to the Amarillo Globe News.

Rex Lemert is the treasurer of the Texas War Memorial Foundation.  He says the project will cost about $5 million.  The group is planning a year of fundraising and a year of construction.

The primary goal of the center is to educate present and future generations on the history and sacrifice of members of the military.
