Construction on the Kinder Morgan natural gas pipeline continued over the weekend. Crews have begun drilling under the Pedernales River in Fredericksburg.

Officials with Kinder Morgan say the 430-mile natural gas pipeline is about 70% complete and should be finished in 2021.

Litigation continues against the multi-billion dollar oil and gas corporation, including a lawsuit brought by landowners in Blanco County, where the company spilled more than 36,000 gallons of drilling fluid, polluting water supplies earlier this year.

Allen Fore is Kinder Morgan’s Vice President of public affairs. He said drilling in the Fredericksburg area is intended to be low impact, and stakeholders are being included in the process.

“We really want to make sure that people are treated fairly. Transparency is important to understand what we're doing and how we're doing it and be able to answer any questions,” said Fore.

He added the drilling under the river should be completed by August.
