It feels odd to even say the sentence, but it seems to be true: live music is BACK! Today on High Plains Morning, I had a blast visiting with Nate Green, owner of the Starlight Canyon Bed & Breakfast, about their new music series, Concerts in the Canyon. It kicked off last year, during the height of the pandemic, since his venue is ideal for an outdoor, socially-distanced live performance. He’s continuing throughout 2021 to encourage music lovers of the TX panhandle to come together, in a safe setting, and get lost in the talent of local jazz, folk, Americana, and rock-and-roll bands. Nate says that his family just loves hosting live music, so they invite everyone to come “enjoy a night under the elms, lit up to shine like stars.”
The series launches this weekend with a set from The A-Town Rockers. Gates open at 6p CT; show starts at 7p CT. Bring your own beverages of choice, snacks, chairs, blankets, and friends. It’s a family-friendly night out, and they’ll have a food truck on site, too: Element Craft Barbecue. (Nate says they improvise on their menu, so it’s a little like “meat jazz.”) They’ll also have henna art on site from DCoolestHenna. Parking is limited, so please carpool if you can.
