Amarillo: Town Square Village is more than another development

Michael Schumacher

Town Square Village is a four-square-mile piece of southwest Amarillo with a vision of being more than another development.  The multimillion-dollar expansion will be an “urban landscape where apartment dwellers live above stores and restaurants in a pedestrian-friendly community core surrounded by row houses and suburbs of single-family homes,” according to a recent article in the Amarillo Globe-News

Perry Williams is the owner of the Williams Group.  He says big builders are doing this in other cities.

“They’re not coming here to do this. So it’s going to be us locals that are going to have to do this if we want it for Amarillo.  We’re going for it.”

The 20-30 year plan includes pedestrian and bike trails connecting to neighborhoods to the south, and will cover the 640 acres from Hillside north to Southwest 45th Avenue and from Soncy Road/Loop 335 west to Helium Road.

More about the expansion can be found here.
