Amarillo's Hodgetown Named Best Double-A Ballpark In America

Amarillo’s Hodgetown, the downtown ballpark that’s home to the double-A Sod Poodles organization, has been named the best Double-A ballpark in America by Ballpark Digest, reports The Amarillo Globe-News.

Hodgetown received more than 110,000 votes from people around the world, beating out the home park of the Hartford Yard Goats, which had won the competition the last two years.

Ever since the new ballpark opened in downtown Amarillo this spring, the venue has been fully embraced by the city. The park has been filling up during most home games, bringing young and old alike out to watch games, eat hot dogs and enjoy fireworks displays.

Kevin Reichard, publisher for Ballpark Digest, called Hodgetown “the model of what a new ballpark should be these days.”

Ballpark Digest is a publication that covers ballparks from the university level to the professional level.
