Services in the US are making progress — the number of assaults has fallen by more than half since 1993…but even today, only 6 out of every 1,000 rapists will end up in prison.
Today on High Plains Morning, we welcomed author, singer, songwriter, and survivor Tammy Stamps into the studio to share her story and a song. Tammy has a book signing at Chalice Abbey (2717 Stanley, Amarillo) this Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. CT. Her book is called Our Time: A True Story of 43 Years of Abuse, Survival, and a Life Changed Forever. Originally from Wichita, KS, she’s been living and working in the Texas Panhandle for more than a decade.
