KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at very reduced power and signal range using a back-up transmitter. This is because of complicated problems with its very old primary transmitter. Local engineers are currently working on that transmitter and consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR mix service or HPPR connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

Federal Court Rejects Colorado Gun Law Challenge

In the wake of the movie theater massacre in Aurora, Colorado officials approved a number of new gun control laws. The measures passed the Colorado legislature in 2013 and were signed into law by Governor John Hickenlooper. The new laws were immediately challenged by supporters of gun rights. But now, reports Reuters, a federal appeals court has ordered a lower court judge to dismiss the challenges to the gun legislation.

The Colorado gun laws ban ammunition magazines with more than 15 rounds and require universal background checks for gun buyers. The losing lawsuit was brought by county sheriffs, gun shops, outfitters and shooting ranges. They claimed that the legislation severely restricted Coloradans' rights to bear arms.

A federal judge said no evidence had been produced to show that the right to gun ownership would be infringed by the new laws.
