KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at very reduced power and signal range using a back-up transmitter. This is because of complicated problems with its very old primary transmitter. Local engineers are currently working on that transmitter and consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR mix service or HPPR connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

Texas: Home to Cities of the Future

Texas is home to the cities of the future, according to Texas Standard.A recent Forbes article attested that Texas has four of America’s next boom towns: Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Dallas. Part of the reason for the growth is affordable real estate. Few can afford to buy a house in the fashionable cities of the 20th century, like New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle and Portland.

In those places, purchasing a home can cost you upward of a million dollars. In increasing numbers, millennials are choosing to buy rather than rent. And that means they’re going where prices are reasonable. In today’s world, that means cities like San Antonio and Dallas.

Another reason for the boom? “Texas is a job generator.” But not everything is rosy. These cities need to confront their massive transportation problems. And the state should create more planned developments with shopping, jobs and parks. Listen to Texas Standard's story below:
