KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at very reduced power and signal range using a back-up transmitter. This is because of complicated problems with its very old primary transmitter. Local engineers are currently working on that transmitter and consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR mix service or HPPR connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

The Promise and Pitfalls of Social Media

The Promise and Pitfalls of Social Media

The Prairie Museum has been hosting a series of monthly lunchtime talks on Communications Media and the changes they have undergone over time. This month KU Journalism Professor Stephen Wolgast will delve into the world of social media and its role in our lives -- both positive and negative. How does social media both connect and divide us? What role do we play in this realm?

The program is free and open to the public. A light lunch will be served; please RSVP at 785-460-4590 if you plan to attend.

This presentation is part of Humanities Kansas' Speakers Bureau and its "21st Century Civics" effort to inspire community discussion about our democracy and our role as citizens. Stephen Wolgast is the Knight Chair in Audience and Community Engagement for News.
