KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at 15% of power, limiting its signal strength and range in the Amarillo-Canyon area. This due to complicated problems with its very old transmitter. Local engineers are continuing to work on the transmitter and are consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR Mix service or HPPR Connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

A Democratic political wave may be gaining speed in Texas, according to the Capitol Hill political newspaper The Hill.

Thus far, in early primary voting, more Democratic voters than Republicans have cast ballots ahead of next month’s primary elections in Texas.

This is the first time in ten years that the blue party has outpaced GOP voters at this point in the process. During the last midterm election four years ago, only 90,000 Democrats had voted at this point. This year, 168,000 have already voted.

Democratic eagerness in the Lone Star State was heightened this week when CNN changed its prediction in this fall’s Senate showdown between Ted Cruz and Democrat Beto O’Rourke. CNN now has the race as leaning “likely” Republican, rather than “solid” Republican. In the last round of fundraising, the young Democratic Congressman from El Paso raised three times as much as Senator Cruz.
