A GOP proposal to allow people to carry concealed guns without a permit died in a House committee Wednesday.
As The Denver Post reports, Senate Bill 97 failed in the House State, Veterans and Military Affairs failed by a 6-3, party-line vote, after passing the Republican-controlled Senate.
It wasn’t the first time attempts to loosen gun regulations in Colorado failed. In February, three billsthat would have allowed people with concealed-carry permits to take guns onto school grounds, repeal the state’s 2013 ban on high-capacity magazines and allow business owners and employees to use deadly force against intruders, was rejected by Democratic state lawmakers.
In other news, as The Denver Post reports a proposal to fund billions of dollars in road repairs across the state is headed for a final vote in the Democratic-controlled House, where leaders have been hesitant to accept the proposal because of a push for money to go to schools.
