KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at 15% of power, limiting its signal strength and range in the Amarillo-Canyon area. This due to complicated problems with its very old transmitter. Local engineers are continuing to work on the transmitter and are consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR Mix service or HPPR Connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

Trump Victory Puts Future of Kansas Medicaid Expansion in Jeopardy

KCUR

Health care advocates in Kansas say they will move forward with legislation that would expand Medicaid in the Sunflower State, despite the election of Donald Trump.

As KCUR reports, the nationwide elections this month may signal an end to Obamacare. And Kansas Medicaid expansion advocates are much less optimistic about the future than they were a month ago. But they’re moving forward anyway.

David Jordan, the director of the Alliance for a Healthy Kansas, says there’s still significant support in Kansas, both in the public and among legislators, for expanding KanCare—despite Trump’s election. And he isn’t wrong.

Kansas election victories by dozens of moderate Republicans and Democrats appear to have given advocates for Medicaid expansion majorities in both the Kansas House and Senate. But none of that will matter if Republicans in Washington scuttle the program.
