KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at 15% of power, limiting its signal strength and range in the Amarillo-Canyon area. This due to complicated problems with its very old transmitter. Local engineers are continuing to work on the transmitter and are consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR Mix service or HPPR Connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

Amarillo College has broken ground on a new $2 million greenhouse, reports The Amarillo Globe-News.

The new greenhouse is part of AC’s pan to expand its academic programs to better serve under-represented students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics—better known as the STEM fields.

The program is funded by a federal grant aimed at increasing the number of Hispanic and low-income students pursuing degrees in the STEM disciplines. The new greenhouse will provide a unique learning environment for students in four new degree plans. Those plans are environmental science, biochemistry, horticulture and sustainable resource management.

The 12,000-square-foot greenhouse will feature two instructional labs and state-of-the-art equipment, including root imaging systems and gene sequencing technology.
