KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at 15% of power, limiting its signal strength and range in the Amarillo-Canyon area. This due to complicated problems with its very old transmitter. Local engineers are continuing to work on the transmitter and are consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR Mix service or HPPR Connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

An Amarillo political activist is slated to deliver a TED Talk at Texas State University Saturday.

Melodie Graves, associate director of advising at Amarillo College and 2nd vice president of the Amarillo Branch of the NAACP, will be delivering a presentation called “The Power of the Amplified Voice,” as part of TedxTexasStateUniversity’s AMPLIFY event.

According to the Tedx Texas State University website, the last year has been filled with noise, which has drowned out ideas and voices, so the event is meant to AMPLIFY those voices.

The virtual event will feature innovative ideas from a variety of speakers who’s talks embrace and AMPLIFY underrepresented voices, under-served communities, or ideas that we now take for granted. 2021 speakers come from diverse backgrounds who are driven to create change, solve problems, and question current standards. Our talks will represent a variety of fields and perspectives including technology, health, the arts, media, social science, the humanities, and the hard sciences. We invite you to join us for a day of inspiration and conversation as we AMPLIFY ideas that can help us navigate our new reality. Help us cut through the noise.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection.

Graves is the first of seven speakers at the virtual event, which is taking place at Texas State University’s performing arts center in San Marcos.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for Texas State University students and can be purchased here. VIP Box: $25 (box includes: access to virtual event, TEDx t-shirt, VIP pass with lanyard, TEDx program with notes pages, snacks, social media photo props, and other TEDx swag)

The event will be broadcast via txstatepresents.com
