KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at very reduced power and signal range using a back-up transmitter. This is because of complicated problems with its very old primary transmitter. Local engineers are currently working on that transmitter and consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR mix service or HPPR connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

Shipping crude oil by train puts small towns at risk

projects.propublica.org

The oil and gas boom is boosting economies on the high plains, but it’s also putting small towns in danger reports ProPublica

Huge amounts of crude are transported by rail across the country to the few refineries that can process it.  The train routes are not public knowledge.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has ordered railroads to provide route information so communities can be prepared.  But, railroad companies are trying to keep the information private because of security concerns.

However, information about rail accidents is available.  A map reveals multiple incidents have taken place in Amarillo and Borger, Texas.  Here’s a link to the interactive map to learn more.
