This week, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly withdrew the nomination of a judge she’d named to the state’s Court of Appeals, after tweets surfaced showing the judge speaking disparagingly about Conservative leaders.
As The Kansas City Star reports, Judge Jeffrey Jack used sometimes profane language to attack Conservatives, including former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and conservative political commentator Dinesh D’Souza. In one 2017 tweet, Jack called out then-Congressman Kevin Yoder, after the Kansas Republican voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
“My child has pre-existing condition, diabetes,” tweeted Jack. “[He] couldn’t be denied affordable coverage under ACA. F--k you for your vote.”
In a statement, Gov. Kelley said she was “surprised and disappointed that a sitting judge would engage in this type of rhetoric.”
