Democratic governor derails bills on gold and silver, ag tourism, income tax break.

Kansas lawmakers have promised for years to fix sky-high property tax bills. But the 2026 session ended with both Democrats and Republicans disappointed and vowing to try again next year.

A group of economists from two state agencies, the Kansas Legislative Research Department, the University of Kansas, Kansas State University and Wichita State University revealed their latest “consensus revenue estimate” on Monday.
