KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at 15% of power, limiting its signal strength and range in the Amarillo-Canyon area. This due to complicated problems with its very old transmitter. Local engineers are continuing to work on the transmitter and are consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR Mix service or HPPR Connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

Feds Expect an Additional 1.1 Million Enrollees for Obamacare in 2017

Federal officials expect over one million more people to sign up for Obamacare in 2017, according to the U.S. Health and Human Services Department. The feds estimate that almost 14 million people will sign up for coverage. That’s compared with fewer than 13 million this year.

As The Rural Blog notes, the agency estimated that “average monthly enrollment in 2017 is estimated at 11.4 million people, up from 10.5 million people in 2016.”

The program has experienced success, but has also seen struggles. Only about half as many people have signed up as were initially expected. And some large nationwide insurers have pulled out of the program. Almost 11 million uninsured people are eligible for insurance through the exchange but remain unenrolled. Many of those are young healthy people, between the ages of 18 and 34.
