KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at 15% of power, limiting its signal strength and range in the Amarillo-Canyon area. This due to complicated problems with its very old transmitter. Local engineers are continuing to work on the transmitter and are consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR Mix service or HPPR Connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

Canyon among Texas’s "50 Safest Cities"

amarillo.com

Despite a slight drop in the rankings, Canyon is still one of the safest towns in Texas, reports The Amarillo Globe-News.

According to a study known as “SafeWise’s 50 Safest Cities in Texas,”Canyon is the 29th safest spot in the Lone Star State. Last year, Canyon was ranked number six in the state, but a rash of auto burglaries led to a 23-spot demotion. The study only ranks cities with populations of 10,000 or more.

Canyon was the only town in the Texas Panhandle to make the list.

Canyon Police Chief Dale Davis said he wasn’t surprised the city made the list. He attributed some of Canyon’s success to police efforts to educate the populace about preventable crimes. Regarding the auto thefts, Davis reminded residents to “take their valuables out of their car and lock their doors.”

If citizens remember to do those things, Canyon may climb in the rankings once again.
