KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at 15% of power, limiting its signal strength and range in the Amarillo-Canyon area. This due to complicated problems with its very old transmitter. Local engineers are continuing to work on the transmitter and are consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR Mix service or HPPR Connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

UPDATED March 24, 2020 at 12:48 p.m. CT

Amarillo has reported its first coronavirus death.

The individual was a woman in her 30s, with underlying health conditions, who lived in Oldham County, Texas, according to an email to HPPR from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The City of Amarillo announced the death this morning and stated that because the case was outside of the jurisdiction of the Amarillo Public Health Department, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) would handle all requests for information.

High Plains Public Radio will provide additional information as it becomes available.
