KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at very reduced power and signal range using a back-up transmitter. This is because of complicated problems with its very old primary transmitter. Local engineers are currently working on that transmitter and consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR mix service or HPPR connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

Texas Democrats Unveil 2016 Party Platform

Last month Texas Republicans released their party platform, written at the state GOP convention in Dallas. Now it’s the Lone Star State’s Democrats’ turn to reveal their party’s platform. Here are some highlights, courtesy of The Texas Tribune.

The party lines up with its national counterpart on many broad issues. For example, the Texas Dems would like to provide citizens with the inalienable right to health care and raise the minimum wage to $15. And they declare that people should be free “from government interference in our private lives and personal decisions.”

There are also some issues in the platform that are particular to Texans. The Democrats would like to repeal the state’s highly restrictive photo Voter ID law. They would also like to allow same day and online voter registration and end the redistricting process that has frequently favored the GOP.
