On the first day of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, delegates approved a new platform, shortly after staving off opposition from “Never Trump” forces who wanted to change party rules.
The platform embraces some of Donald Trump’s signature issues, including building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, but moves right on a number of social issues such as marriage equality.
