L.A. fires latest: Close to 200,000 people remain under mandatory evacuation

The remnants of a car sit at the intersection of Temescal Canyon Road and the Pacific Coast Highway on Wednesday. As of Thursday, the Palisades fire had grown to more than 17,000 acres in this part of Los Angeles.

Evacuees from the Palisades fire gather at the Westwood Recreation Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Westwood is one of three evacuation centers listed on the website of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or CAL FIRE.
