Garden City native and author Dennis Garcia recently published his newest book through University Press of Kansas, “Las Madres,” and he’ll be on hand at 7 p.m. June 11 in the Finney County Historical Museum to discuss the book, as well as sell and sign copies. The program will take place in the Mary Regan Conference Room and admission is free. Those attending should use the museum’s north entrance. Garcia has already made numerous book tour stops and spoken on High Plains Public Radio Readers Book Club programming, and the State Library of Kansas just named “Las Madres” one of 15 Kansas Notable Books for 2025. The museum will open a short-term exhibit about the book on the day of the presentation.
