CHAPTERHOUSE BOOKSTORE TO HOST AMARILLO AUTHOR STORYTIME & COLOR EVENT TO BENEFIT AATAG FOOD DISTRIBUTION

Amarillo author Diane Broady Wilson will read from her book Celebrating Kindness with Jeremiah Jackrabbit, Jr for a storytime at Chapterhouse Bookstore in Amarillo on March 28 at 10:30am as part of an Easter season food drive benefitting the AATAG food distribution located out of the San Jacinto Community Center. The storytime will be followed by an optional coloring session with the coloring book version of Ms Wilson’s book. Goodie bags with crayons will be available for those who purchase a book at the event or donate a food item to the food drive.
The public is invited to donate shelf stable food items or monetary donations benefitting the AATAG food distribution program beginning Saturday, March 21 and through the end of Saturday, April 4. Donations may be dropped off at Chapterhouse Bookstore on 3317 SW 6^th Ave in Amarillo, TX or given directly to AATAG. Attendance at the Storytime & Color event is free, but the author and event organizers ask that guests consider bringing a food item to contribute to the food drive. Additionally, a portion of proceeds from every Jeremiah book sold will be donated to AATAG.

Ms Wilson is a native Texan raised in Houston who started writing about rainbows, family, and nature when she was 7 years old. As an adult, she also writes poetry and loves how her imagination creates fun and challenging characters for everyone to enjoy. Now semi-retired from her career as a mental health counselor, Ms Wilson has always been aware that basic needs such as food and shelter must be met first and she wrote Jeremiah Jackrabbit to bring attention to the many youth in the Texas panhandle and beyond that do not have these basic needs met. She believes that it’s never too early to appeal to a young child’s growing sense of empathy.

Celebrating Kindness with Jeremiah Jackrabbit, Jr is illustrated by Amarillo based digital illustrator Manfredd (Manny) Maier. Jeremiah Colors the World with Kindness, the accompanying coloring book, features colorable illustrations from past Bushland ISD Art Students. Copies of both books will be available for purchase at Chapterhouse Bookstore during and after the event.
