"Those 60's Boys" Book Signing
"Those 60's Boys" Book Signing
Lon Wartman, formerly of Ingalls, Kansas, will be doing a book signing of his newly published book, titled "Those 60’s Boys" Saturday, September 27 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Ingalls High School Gymnasium. The signing is scheduled to take place as part of Ingalls High School's homecoming celebration.
It is the decade of the 60s, and the author has dropped in on the small town of Ingalls, Kansas. It is a.community that is much like any other small community found in rural America. It was and still is a place where everyone knows everyone, and secrets are hard to keep. Like most rural communities, Ingalls had its share of misguided misfits, pranksters, Bible-touting preachers, and wannabe football jocks. It was a place where the county sheriff knew everyone and would quite often help the boys find their way home after a night of unsupervised drinking. Their stories/pranks are many and sure to bring a smile to your face and a memory of your past. "Those 60s Boys" is a memoir of the 60s decade that capitalizes on some of the crazy things these 60s boys did, not just in Ingalls but the surrounding communities of Cimarron, Montezuma, and Pierceville. It ends with the unintended and tragic consequences of the Vietnam War. Those "60s Boys" consist of short stories and some poetry, as well as a few photographs. It is a decade that needs to be remembered in all of its many varied facets.
