Christmas came early for a bunch of Prowers County, Colorado kids.  They got a new shoes of their choice because of the Share the Spirit fundraiser held earlier this month at Amache Farms reported Russ Baldwin for the Prowers Journal.

Almost $28,000 was raised at the October 11th Sip and Savor event.

Karen Veople is the co-founder of the Share the Spirit Foundation.  She was present on October 24 for the shoe shopping day.

“We’re estimating 130 children in from Springfield, McClave, Holly, Granada and Eads,” says Voepel, “Youngsters from as young as four years and up from the Welcome Home Center and middle school kids from Project HOPE are on hand right now.”

Voepel says, “We’ll spend about $3,000 today and we’re fortunate that Jennifer Steward from J & N Shoes always gives us a very good discount on the shoes.  They only cost about $22 per child, but they’re all quality footwear.”

She went on to say money from this year's fundraiser will be spent over several events in the next two years.

The next Share the Spirit event will be held in 2016.
