Haiku Death Match Kicks off TODAY at 4pm in Canyon, TX

Hear my interview with Dr. Matthew Harrison about today's sudden death elimination poetry competition—probably the only one happening today on the High Plains!

If you missed my chat with Dr. Matthew Harrison on High Plains Morning this week, you missed a comprehensive rundown of one of the weirdest events to take place on the High Plains in recent history. Today in Canyon, TX, come to the downtown square at 4pm to participate in the Haiku Death Match, sponsored by West Texas A&M University's Dept. of English, Philosophy & Modern Languages. There will be judges, which means there will be prizes. There's also going to be a food truck, thanks to 575 Pizzeria (the only pizza joint in the TX panhandle named perfectly for this event). Plus, you can get some popcicles from Tropico too. Bring your best haiku collection, some chairs and blankets, and a sense of humor. This event is worth the trip to the Canyon square. See you there!
