High Plains Drought Update: Late October Rains Helped Oklahoma Panhandle

http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/

Dry conditions continue across the High Plains listening region.  Rain in southern Kansas slightly improved the abnormally dry conditions.  Heavy rains on October 26 improved conditions in the Oklahoma panhandle according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

The trend is for a wetter pattern over the eastern half of the United States.  A strong cold front will move eastward, spurring showers and thunderstorms.  Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas are expected to get up to four inches.  Part of the Midwest could see two to three inches, mostly concentrated from Missouri north to the Great Lakes.

Temperatures will be slightly above seasonal normal for areas east of the Rocky Mountains, and normal to slightly below west.
