High winds no longer warrant weather advisory warning

crh.noaa.gov

The National Weather Service serving the Central High Plains will no longer issue wind advisories.

A public survey revealed that people don’t pay much attention to the wind advisories.  People know it’s windy on the high plains, and special notices don’t serve much purpose according to a recent press release from David Floyd, Warning Coordination Meteorologist.

As of October 31, the advisories will cease to be generated from the Goodland KS, Dodge City KS, Hastings NE and North Platte NE offices.

Wind information will still be available in daily forecasts.
