Oklahoma’s ballot initiatives can be confusing to those who haven’t studied them. To help voters understand the measures, KTUL has published a guide. Here are some highlights:
SQ 776: Oklahoma Death Penalty
Voting yes supports protecting the death penalty in the state constitution.
Voting no opposes amending the Oklahoma constitution to protect the death penalty.
SQ 777: Oklahoma Right-to-Farm Amendment
Voting yes would allow farmers to defend themselves against unjust laws or laws that would harm the industry.
Voting no could prevent governments from passing laws to protect small farmers. Opponents of the measure say it would give large, corporate farms an advantage over small, local farms.
SQ 779: Oklahoma One Percent Sales Tax
Voting yes would increase the state sales tax by one percentage point to generate a predicted $615 million per year for education funding.
Voting no means you oppose the tax hike.
