Oklahoma Panhandle State University to build new shooting facility

KVII

Oklahoma Panhandle State University has plans for a new facility that it hopes will draw more students interested in wildlife-related programs

As KVII reports, the new Panhandle State Collegiate Shooting facility is being built on 203 acres of ranch land in Texas County. The complex will feature a pistol range, a rifle range, an Olympic 3D archery range, multiple skeet ranges, and a wildlife education center.

The facility will host events that will be sponsored by the National Riflemen Association or the National Shooting Sports Foundation. The university is hoping the state-of-the-art shooting ranges will attract an additional 200 students to Oklahoma Panhandle State. The institution’s current enrollment stands at just over 1,200.

Construction is slated to begin in about a year.
