Texas and Oklahoma have more uninsured residents, per capita, than any other states in the Union, according to a new study by the personal finance website Wallethub. Researchers investigated the post-Obamacare insurance rates in every state, even breaking the national figures down by race and income level. The evidence is clear that states which have embraced the Affordable Care Act boast much higher rates of insured residents. And states that have refused to expand Medicaid, like Texas and Oklahoma, are struggling.
In fact, the average uninsured rate in states that have not expanded Medicaid is almost double the rate in states that did expand.
Colorado was the only HPPR state to make the top half of the list, landing at number 24. Nebraska and Kansas were ranked at numbers 30 and 31, respectively.
Massachusetts, Vermont and Hawaii have the highest rate of uninsured residents, according to the study.
